Winterland Ascona – Locarno
From November 19, 2026, to January 6, 2027, Winterland returns with a new dimension and becomes Winterland Ascona-Locarno, a major winter project that combines two of Ticino’s most evocative destinations in a single experience of ice, light, music, gastronomy, and entertainment.
In Locarno, the heart of Winterland remains Piazza Grande, which for the new edition is enriched with new experiences. Among these, the Casetta del Gusto, dedicated to the area’s gastronomic excellence, and the new Santa Claus House, an immersive experience with lights, animatronics, elves, a VR sleigh, a Christmas shop, and an original Santa Claus Elevator.
In Ascona, the big new feature of the 2026–27 edition is the transformation of the lakefront into an elegant winter setting overlooking Lake Maggiore.
The heart of the experience is the spectacular 700-meter ice walk, an immersive route that allows you to skate in a unique setting, amidst the lake, lights, and Christmas atmosphere. Rounding out the experience are the Lake Dome, a transparent lounge overlooking Lake Maggiore dedicated to gastronomy, events, and conviviality, and an artistic lighting project that enhances historic façades and transforms Ascona into an evocative setting.
The two locations will also be connected by a Christmas train, designed to take visitors on a discovery of both destinations and create a truly integrated experience between Ascona and Locarno.

When autumn paints the woods in gold, orange, and red, the Vigezzina-Centovalli railway transforms into a living picture.
A slow and evocative journey that passes through the picturesque Vigezzo Valley and the wild Swiss Centovalli, passing dizzying bridges, waterfalls and timeless medieval villages.
Jazz Ascona 2026

Since 1985, JazzAscona is one of the world’s leading events dedicated to New Orleans Beat, attracting and thrilling a large audience every year, whith the diversity of its rich programme, but also the festival’s holiday ambience, and the spectacular scenery of Ascona.
JazzAscona is the only big european festival, offering a full immersion into New Orleans’ music, culture and cuisine.
Some 200 concerts take place during 10 days, non-stop from midday to late at night on the four stages along the lakefront as well as in bars, restaurants, alleys, and piazzas throughout the picturesque old-town Borgo.
Since 2022 all concerts are free.
The festival offers a unique musical mix. From New Orleans jazz to swing, blues through R&B, gospel and soul, all genres related to jazz’s and Afro-American music’s great traditions are represented.
JazzAscona is the only festival in Europe officially supported by the City of New Orleans. Ascona and New Orleans are also “Sister Cities”, the official twinning was signed during the festival’s 2022 edition, by the mayors of the two cities.
